Compared to other types of wall covering, luxury wallpaper is a surprisingly lengthy investment of time.
Given that some types can last decades if well-maintained and out of high-traffic areas, it takes a keen eye, an astute visual style and the help of a specialist to decide on the right pattern for you both now and in the future.
However, one potentially interesting option for the indecisive or people crafting a unique theme for the festive season is removable wallpaper, which is a wallpaper type that does not need pasting to the wall and can be removed exceptionally quickly.
It is sometimes known as “peel and stick wallpaper”, as the smooth, vinyl or sticky-back plastic roll can be easily applied to a suitably primed wall and removed in its entirety.
This makes it different to conventional wallpapers that require a more involved application process, and typically need to be scraped off of the wall when it is time to remove the entire pattern.
With that said, the wall still needs to be primed, and many removable wallpapers may have other preparation methods that need to be put in place, otherwise the adhesive may not stick properly and the removable wallpaper may not last as long as expected.
Removable wallpaper is useful in a lot of cases where an interior design is likely to change so much that it is not enough to replace the furniture and flooring, but this comes at an added expense that will accrue surprisingly quickly if you are changing wallpaper a lot.
It can be exceptionally useful for rental accommodation, for themed venues where the design is likely to change quickly, and for festive seasons in rooms that do not already have other types of wallpaper.
However, for a design with an immaculate finish that will last a long time, more conventional luxury wallpaper with the help of an installer is the best finish.
