Can You Hang Wallpaper In A Vehicle?

A wallpaper specialist will often see a lot of variety in the types of installations they will undertake, which can range from the luxurious to the somewhat esoteric.

However, one common expectation is that the room it is installed into is likely to stay in place, but is that always the case? Could you hang wallpaper up in a car, a caravan or a motor home?

There are ways to do this completely wrong, such as a rather infamous story of a driver who tried to patch up the outside of a Toyota Yaris with a scrap of wallpaper before West Yorkshire police officers intervened.

However, if you want to use luxury wallpaper for its intended goal of revitalising an interior space that just so happens to be on the road, there is a surprising amount of versatility and options available to you, depending on what you drive.

If you happen to drive a car, then both the interior and exterior of the car could theoretically be decorated in wallpaper, although given the complex contours and rigours of everyday motoring, the preferred material used for this is vinyl wrap rather than thick luxury wallpaper.

There are a lot of holes and gaps needed to ensure that the interior and exterior of the car work as expected, and it could affect your ability to sell the car later, but it is an option.

Alternatively, if you have a motorhome or a caravan, it is very possible to apply wallpaper over the existing wall panelling, either using peel-and-stick rolls or even more traditional luxury wallpaper.

There are still challenges to bear in mind which you are far less likely to have in a home, but it can be an option and a fascinating challenge for people who want to drive something unique.

Vehicles tend to experience more disparate heating conditions, caused by the engine and the sensitivity to the weather outside. In particularly hot or particularly cold conditions, this can cause the adhesive to fail if the adhesive is not strong enough.

With that in mind, it can still be an impressive addition, and a well-chosen wallpaper may even make your motorhome more desirable when the time comes to sell.
